Nara wins Rio


Japan's Kurumi Nara has won her first WTA singles title after defeating top-seeded Klara Zakopalova of the Czech Republic 6-1, 4-6, 6-1 on the final of the Rio Open. Nara is the first Japanese WTA winner since Kimiko Date Krumm 2009.

Hat-trick for Venus in Dubai


Venus Williams completed a trophy hat-trick at the Dubai Tennis Championships as she defeated Alize Cornet 6-3 6-0 in the final, becoming the first wildcard entry to win the event. The unseeded 33-year-old also lifted titles at the Aviation Club in 2009 and 2010, the last time she played. The former number one took victory with her 15th straight victory at the desert venue, winning in 91 minutes.

Halep captures Doha


Simona Halep defeated Angelique Kerber 6-2,6-3 to win the biggest title of her career at Qatar Total Open in Doha, Qatar. Halep won 6 WTA singles titles last year.
